The workshops are free for AWLA members. Please make sure your membership is up to date! Non-members may attend for $25.00 per workshop. Registration is now open.

Curriculum Design and the New World Language Course of Study

Randolph School in Huntsville, June 8, 9am-3 pm
Dr. Krista Chambless and Dr. Sandrine Hope

The Alabama State Department of Education has developed a new course of study for world languages. This professional development workshop will present the new course of study highlighting additions and differences from the previous course of study. Presenters will also discuss ACTFL's core practice of Backward Design in planning curricula. Workshop will be conducted by members of the Course of Study committee.

Proficiency-Based Instruction: what does it look like in the classroom?  How does one plan for instruction?  What kinds of activities, assessments, etc should be used? Come learn how to create authentic language learning experiences for your students that move them effectively along the path to proficiency and to become life-long language learners.
