2024 CONFERENCE SITE!

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, we held our fall board meeting at the University of North Alabama. The board spent the entire day planning, preparing, and touring the 2025 conference campus. The preparations are in full swing, and the campus is stunning. The language department is thrilled to host us from January 30 to February 1. The university, founded in 1830, holds the distinction of being Alabama's first state-chartered college. Our conference will take place in the historic Wesleyan Hall, the campus's original building. Make plans to attend!

N.E.W.B.I.E. PROJECT

SHOUT OUT!

Alabama World Language teacher, Hannah Rae Joseph, will be presenting at the ACTFL conference in November!

Her presentation covers using ACTFL Standards to make assessments more authentic, engaging and easy to grade! She discusses ACTFL standards-based assessments that reduce stress and that students have dared to call "fun!"

Congratulations Hannah!

We once again congratulate Hannah! She is the 2024 recipient of the AATSP Outstanding Service Award. She teaches at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama.

Hannah Rae's longstanding record of service to the profession includes founding the N. E. W. B. I. E. project (which gives welcome boxes for 1st year world language teachers), serving as President of the Alabama Association of Teachers of Spanish in Portuguese, and being a member of the Alabama World Language Associations!
